Alumni House, Fordham University
The Alumni House is a small building built in 1840 that is currently used as a campus cafe. Years of neglect and a fire left the building in poor condition. VBA conducted a Landmarks Report, detailing the building’s existing condition and the proposed repairs. The project included new wood windows, new exterior woodwork, new copper roof and the restoration of the main entrance. The masonry was re-pointed, the new mortar matching the historic. VBA was also commissioned to renovate the interior and create a new plaza at the rear of the building.
