370 Temple, Yale University
VBA was commissioned to renovate 370 Temple, a historic brick and limestone building, to house the Center for Language Studies and Yale’s Linguistic Department. 370 Temple is the sister building to One Hillhouse and are connected by a new $2.5 million “Connector” classroom building. The total $10.5 million renovation and restoration of the building has provided the University with two new state of the art Departments. Significant structural and preservation issues were incorporated and designed into the new multi-media teaching facility. The two departments are separated by floors, yet will share the Main Entry and Classrooms. The first floor will be restored to incorporate the existing vaults in the entry and the wood paneling in a new classroom and office. The rest of the building will be essentially new construction, providing a state-of-the-art teaching facility to Yale’s campus.
